In the distance, the sky grew brighter as the sun crept above the horizon lazily. Sunlight filtered through the clouds. It was a warm Saturday morning, I was out of bed early and I had an aim, which was to reach the middle of a mountain within 5 hours and so as Tom and Mike. We had agreed that we will be hiking at Mount Kense this morning.
“Dad! I am going out for hiking with Tom and Mike!” I shouted to make sure that my dad was aware of it as I carried my hiking bag, walking down the stairs.
“Okay! Good bye and have fun! Be aware of the time and come home when it’s dinner time!” Dad replied.
After taking some snacks for lunch, I went straight for the door as I put it in the bag. Tom and Mike were waiting impatiently outside of my house. We walked slowly as our bags were really very heavy. Very heavy indeed. Second by second, minute by minute had passed. Finally after 3 long hours of walking up the mountain with our heavy bags, we reach our destination, the middle of Mount Kense. At that pointed of time, perspiration peppered our forehead. We had completed our aim for that day.
“We finally reach the middle of the mountain! Unbelievable!” I said loudly at the top of my lungs.
Then I spotted something floating up and down in water as I walked near a river to wash my sweaty face while Tom and Mike were lying down looking at the views of the sky. “Hm….What is that?”I said softly to myself. Out of curiosity, I took two steps forward to have a nearer view of it.
“Hey, John! What are you looking at?” shouted Tom as he ran towards me.
Without noticing that I am just about 2 centimetre away from the river, Tom tapped me at my back forcefully. “Ahhhh…”I shouted. Splash! I dived into the water, being pushed by Tom. Mike was alerted and ran as fast as his legs could carry him. Upon seeing me struggling in the water, Mike and Tom were flabbergasted.
“What happened? What did you do to John?” Mike questioned Tom.
“I…I…had……”Tom explained slowly in a soft tone.
Without wasting even a second, Mike plunged into the icy cold water to rescue me. Being a strong, well-trained swimmer, I swam against the strong current and kick my legs furiously. My head was seen floating up as I am desperately floating up to breathe. Then I heard a person shouting….
It was Tom, he was shouting to me, trying to tell me that John was struggling and any moment he might drown. After hearing that, I swam in the water with my eyes open trying to spot where is Mike. I spotted Mike! I swam swiftly with strong strokes and in no time I reached Mike. At that time, Mike was unconscious and was completely in the water.
I pulled him up to the surface of the water, his head was lying on my chest and his legs floating. After about a minute or two, I reached to the shore. Tom pulled the unconscious boy up to the ground and then I went up. Tom, who had been trained in first aid emergency, performed Cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Mike. Ten seconds later, water started to gush out of Mike’s mouth for a second and then he regained conscious.
“Phew! Thank god everybody is all right.” Tom said. “You got me there, Mike! I though that it will be the last time I saw you.” He added teasingly.
“What about that chest?” I asked.
We decided to leave all the investigation to the police whether if the chest was really filled with gold bars or gold coins. After about a week later, I saw an article about a chest that was found at the river on Mount Kense which was filled with gold coins. It was actually on a big rock and the waves was splashing it and that looks like it is floating. There were even our name on the article in the sentence:John Tan, Tom Teo and Mike Lim had discovered the chest and informed the police. After the investigation, the chest had been dedicated to a museum. There was a joyous feeling in my heart after reading the article. I will not forget this terrifying experience in my life.
Q3) You were hiking with your friend near a lake when you saw a chest floating on it.
- What did you do?
- What did you find inside the chest?
- What happened next?

“Remember to meet me outside my house in half and hour time to do our science project,” Jerry said to me as he turned his head and make a quick dash towards the public bus stop.
“Okay, Jerry! Here comes your bus.” I replied.
The sun shone vibrantly in the sky and it was a wonderful morning, the birds were chirping merrily. Today was a public holiday and Jerry accompanied me to the park to do some observation on the insects that was needed to be noted down for our science project.
I took the lift and reach the third level which is the level I stayed in. I was going to reach my house which is about few metres away from where I was standing until I heard an ear-piercing loud crash coming from my neighbour’s house.
“I thought that Mr Ken had gone out to work on 7.30am? It is 11am! He should not be at home unless he had forgotten his files and his wife should be at the market by now. Who actually is that?” I said to myself as I looked at my watch.
Out of curiously, I tried to open the door. It is not locked! I gently push the open the door and peak into the house. To my utter horror, I saw a man who is wearing a brown shirt and a blue jeans tying Mrs Ken on the chair. She looks unconscious as her head was down. Who is actually him? What is he going to do with Mrs Ken? Why is she unconscious? Questions after questions race through my mind as I tried to answer them.
At that instance, I took few steps back and I came to a stopped when I stepped on a twig. The man heard the sound, rushed out of the house and grabbed me into the house without a split of a few second. For a second later, I felt like someone had hit me forcefully by my back. When I regained conscious, what seemed like hours had past and I saw Mrs Ken beside me. I was in the same situation like Mrs Ken, tried to a chair using ropes and a tape stick on our lip. I looked around to see whether the man is still in the house. I looked at the clock which is hanged on the wall and it is already 12pm!
Why is he here in the first place? I thought curiously. My question had been answered when I saw the man opening drawers to drawers, taking all the valuables in the drawer and put it in a sack. The burglar spent his time opening the drawers that were locked up tightly. Suddenly, I heard a very familiar voice. “It’s already 12.10pm and Tom is neither at home nor outside my house. Where possibly he could go?” Jerry said loudly.
Then, I lost track of his voice. Out of nowhere, Jerry appeared in the living room of Mr Ken’s house. Without getting the burglar’s attention, I raised my leg straight so that it will be more obvious for Jerry to spot me. Indeed Jerry spotted me and he crept silently into the room where Mrs Ken and I were in. Jerry quickly untied us and we were free at last. Just as we wanted to escaped, the burglar took two big long steps as he whipped out a knife. He held Jerry hostage and put the knife on his neck. “One more step you take, you shall pay for your friend’s life!” he shouted with a devilish grin on his face as his voice echoed.
Neither Mrs Ken nor I dared not to take another step. It sent chills down my spine. I turned around and saw perspiration peppered Jerry’s forehead. After one second, an idea struck my mind. I winkled at Jerry and looked at the burglar. Jerry nodded his head, grabbed the burglar’s arm and swings him down on the floor with a loud thud.Months of Judo training finally paid off. Grabbing this golden opportunity, Mrs Ken fished out her mobile phone and dialed for the police.
After several minutes later, the police arrived. We were all brought to the police station to record out statement. Luckily, in the end no one is hurt during the ordeal and the valuables were returned back to Mrs Ken. The ordeal will be remembered for life in my heart…

Oral Picture 1 - Hospital Ward
Oral Picture 1 – Hospital Ward
Introduction: Setting
This picture shows us a scene in a ward at a hospital which is spacious, bright and clean. There is an elderly man lying on the bed. There are two children running around.
Scenario 1- Normal
a) Describe what you see.
There is an efficient nurse attending to the elderly man who is lying on the bed and his right leg is in a cast. I think that he had fractured his right leg or meet with an accident. They seem like talking to each other. Maybe the nurse is asking him whether he is comfortable while she pats him on his shoulder and adjusts the pillow so he will be comfortable at the position.
b) Personal Respond (PR)
I think that the nurse is very caring. If I am the man lying on the bed, I will praise her and say to her she is a very caring nurse. I think that the nurse and patience should communicate in a polite manner and respect each other.
Scenario 2- Wrong and consequence & Cause and Effect
a) Describe what you see.
There are two mischievous kids, a girl and a boy, are playing tag. The boy is chasing the girl and he tried to reach the girl by stretching out his hand. There is a woman sitting on a chair who is fuming mad when she saw the misbehaving kids playing around the ward and making noise. I think that the kids are her children. Looking at the woman’s expression, I can tell that she is very angry at the kids. I think that the kids, woman and the man are related and they are visiting the man.
b) Personal Respond (PR)
(i) Comment on the wrong action (Inferring)
They should not play around in the ward as the noise made by them will affect the other patience who are sleeping in other wards.
(ii) Give options on the situation or the people (Feelings, Judgment and Justification/reason)
I strongly advise them not to play at the hospital as they might interrupt the patience’s sleep be making noise. Hospital is the place where the patience rest, receive treatment and recover. If I am the parent of the kids, I will feel ashamed and will teach them a lesson.
(iii) Consequence/ Prediction
If this continue they might either be chase out of the hospital by the security guards which is called by the nurse or collide onto somebody or the medical equipment.
(iiii) Suggestion for solution
They should be playing at the field or quadrangle and not make nuisance in the hospital.
Conclusion
Children should be thought by their parents whether what place is the most suitable to do in the situation.

a) Describe what you see.
There are two boys, one wearing a hat and a singlet while the other one is wearing a t-shirt and a short, who are playing a beach ball. They are getting nearer and nearer to the sea.
b) Personal Respond (PR)
(i) Comment on the wrong action (Inferring)
They should not play near the sea and should be noticing where they are going to.
(ii) Consequence
They might collide onto someone or fall down and they will get hurt.
(iii) Suggestion (Judgment)
I will suggest for the children that they should go to a safer place to play which is further away to the sea and they can have a whale of a time playing.
Scenario 2 – Wrong and consequence
a) Describe what you see.
Two kids, a boy and a girl, are playing in the sea. The girl is on a float and they seems having a wonderful time playing in the water as their expressions shows that they are very happy. I think that they are siblings.
b) Personal Respond (PR)
(i) Comment on the wrong action (Inferring)
They should not play in the sea as there is no adults or lifeguard nearby to keep a eye on them in case when something happen.
(ii) Consequence
One of the kids may have a numb and she/he will be struggling. But no one came to rescue and he/she may drown.
(iii) Suggestion (Judgment)
They should be looked after by an adult or they should go to a swimming complex to play as it is safer than the sea because at the swimming complex there will be lifeguards.
Scenario 3- Normal
a) Describe what you see.
There is a boy holding a spade and a bucket which is filled with water walking towards two girls who are building a sand castle which is in front of him.
b) Personal Respond (PR)
I think that they are very creative when they come to building something out of sand. The boy is probably using some sea water to wet the sand castle to keep it strong and firm. They even use sea shell which they found to decorate their sand castle and poke some holes so that it looks like widows.
Scenario 4- Normal
a) Describe what you see.
There is a woman sitting on a rock who is wearing a shade and holding onto a guitar. There is a girl who is sitting on her feet, which is sitting in front of the woman. While the woman is strumming the guitar, the girl sings along and clapped her hands too. I think that they are mother and daughter. They had set up a map to have a picnic as there are some drinks and a picnic basket on the map.
b) Personal Respond (PR)
I think that people should go outdoors with their family often as they will increase the time spent with each other, the relationship between them will also increase and they will communicate better.
Conclusion
The beach is a relaxing place to have a picnic with your family. They should often go out with each other as they can know each other better.

What a tiring day!
Today is Sport day. Since yesterday, I am looking forward to Sport day. But now I am not because today is REALLY A TIRING DAY. I have duty which is taking the winners to the shelter or for every 5 events, they will be receiving their medals.
I end up serving drinks to the teachers and leaders who are on duty too. The participates is just asking for more drinks, complaining but what they really don't appreciate is that we, people on duty which includes me, have to serve drinks to them and they did not say even a thank you and others who did not have a drink said ''wao lao'' loudly like we are ''deaf''.
The teacher in charge of the area thank us for serving drinks for them but what I really want is to hear a thank you from even 1 of them. But none of them said. I feel the anger inside of me but soon I just look at the positive side.
Actually the last winners is US, if there is a event called "the longest walk" means the person who walk the most will win and we will win, we ran more than the participants. We walk back and forth from the starting of the stadium (where the Milo van) to the ending of the stadium about more than ten over times.
So that makes 20+ turns of walking to serving them drinks.Even after 5 rounds of serving drinks I did not even drink a drip of water. The Milo drinks have soon run out. And I began to think of a smart idea...taking the Milo cups and fill water cooler water.
The participles saw and said YEAH. But soon when they saw that it's not Milo their reaction change from happy to not very happy. When Mrs Sing or Wee is saying the scores for the overall results, I am so tired that I slept at the winners area (not really sleeping just like half sleeping half awake).
I really find that this sentence from the SUPER KIDS motivational camp, "Whatever don't kills you, makes you stronger." is really very true. I felt stronger and don't complain much now. My advice to all is appreciate the things provided by the people around you and they are working more than you do, so please say even a thank you from now onwards. Please remember that.

Assembly talk and mock exam papers
After watching that video I felt a little embarrass inside me. As the solders is fighting for their life, country and family. But why is it that I am SIMPLY NOT FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE? I should fight for my life! Seeing the determination they have even when they are caught on fire, they still fight with their enemy. I JUST WANT TO WAKE UP, FIGHT FOR MY LIFE...but why am I not, when I already have the spirit inside of me? What is stopping me for succeeding?
For our mock exam we did quite badly as the results make teachers even students themselves feel disappointed but are they taking action? THE BATTLE HAVE BEGIN! The people who start running had run very fast and the people who did not start still remain.... I know I am still remaining, maybe hibernating and even disprove. But I KNOW I MUST THINK OF A WAY TO BREAK THE SPELL OF HIBERNATING AND START RUNNING OR FLYING MYSELF!

Reflection of SUPER Kids camp
Firstly, I FELL that we should really FIGHT for our life and we MUST. The problem with 6B is simply we do not LISTEN to instructions. There is a lot of evidence to tell that we do not LISTEN.
1) When YY told us to stack the chairs or unstack the chairs he did not say start/go and people in 6B just start to move.
2) Today, we just had our assembly talk after recess. During that talk we played that game - (the bench) and when Mr Phua have not said anything people from 6B started to move towards the bench but I am not aware of other class whether if they also started when they are not TOLD.
Now I am thinking of a solution about it...but if I have one, will people in 6B isten? I wondered. Oh! I thought of one. People who start doing without told to do will be eliminated if it is a contest and when it is things that is not like contest or competition the team should do it twice again. But is it good enough?
Back to the main topic of SUPER KIDS camp.... WE, US , ME want to be an eagle and not a follower ( sHeEp). But how? Work hard? Discipline ourselves? Revise? Do concept maps? Anyway, I have a plan in mind. Please do not panic when MISS CHIA SAY SHE IS GOING TO DESTROY OUR NEST! ;(
If you panic it means you have not try to even fly. If you are not, you have at least an idea how to fly. We should find the enemy, see their profile, get weapons, repeat it again and get ready your base to ATTACK THEM. hehehe.....
I AM VERY SURE THAT A LOT OF US (95%) want to success and don't want our tears to be waste. If you are not just like me, you better work harder and think of a strategy. But I have success the beginning stage as I know what to do. WE HAVE LOTS TO DO BUT Is there enough time?
QUESTIONS: just like the (why you need to wake up in the morning)
Why must we wake up in the morning and go to school?
Why must we learn things like cooking, painting, English science and etc.?
Why must we make a living?
Why must we invent things?
WHY!WHY!WHY! A lot of question just flew through my mind and for another second it fly to somewhere else.
In the end... we still know that we are having our PSLE like all P6 do. But are we ready yet? NO! But what are we doing how? Working hard? NO! So do it before you regret. I just hope, wish that someone will push me hard enough. I just could not push myself alone......................................
